Life expectancy to reach 140 years old

The oldest person ever recorded was Jeanne Calment, a French woman who passed away in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 5 months. To date, none other has achieved an age of over 122 years in the past quarter century.

Dr. Chaim Cohen, a researcher from Israel, predicts that in the future, a growing number of individuals will outlive the century mark, with some people even reaching the age of 120, and others potentially living up to 140 years. He is an expert in the molecular biology of aging at Bar Ilan University.

Last year, a study determined that the human lifespan has a scientifically established maximum limit. Researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York found it extremely unlikely that a person would live longer than 125 years.

He asserts that if the aging process itself is tampered with, life expectancy can also exceed 120 years. This claim is supported by a study examining human mortality data from 1900 to 2010, as well as experiments conducted on mice, rats and flies. Through adjustments to diet, various medications, and genetic manipulation, Cohen maintains it is possible to increase life expectancy by up to 30%.
