- The class building was reportedly dismantled because Eric failed to adhere to the appropriate guidelines during the construction process.
- It was designed to provide a secure learning environment for youngsters who had previously learned under a tree
- Local residents expressed outrage, strongly condemning the demolition and holding the leaders accountable for embarrassing Eric Omondi and obstructing the children's education.
Comedian Eric Omondi has been left heartbroken after discovering that the school he built for underprivileged students in Turkana County has been leveled.

Has the classroom constructed by Eric in Turkana been destroyed?
The entertainer, who has recently become an advocate for social justice, publicly aired his strong emotions about the incident through a social media posting.
"It is trulyheartbreaking that the building we constructed for the children was destroyed, however, what's even more devastating is that they took away the uniforms and shoes of the very kids it was meant to protect. Are there any human values left with these individuals?" Omondi wrote.
The learning space, created by Eric and his team with the support of his grassroots movement Sisi Kwa Sisi, was designed as a safe environment for the children who had previously studied under a tree.
Eric had rallied people to donate crucial materials, including iron sheets, school uniforms, educational books, and footwear, to make the school a reality.
The classroom, which typically functioned as the classroom, had been named in honor of Elizabeth Kamaret; the educator who had been instructing the children under a tree, serving as a symbol of hope for the children of Turkana.
It was revealed on Tuesday, January 28th that the Turkana County Government had allegedly razed the structure, citing that the construction had not adhered to required protocols.
What residents said
In a video Eric shared on Instagram, a local resident expressed disappointment to Citizen TV, criticizing the officials who supposedly authorized the demolition.
"I want to inform them that whatever they have done is extremely embarrassing. I want to tell those leaders who sent individuals to demolish the school that Eric Omondi built that this is very embarrassing. How can somebody construct a classroom, provide uniforms and shoes for your children, and then you humiliate him by tearing down the classroom? They haven't only embarrassed Eric Omondi, but they've also embarrassed us," he said.

They can picture their children going to school, yet they don't want the average civilians to have access to the path to success.

"Hizi ni gani tena?"

It's a tragic irony. This was an education available only to the underprivileged, not the privileged.

"This is just saaaad."
It is reported that Eric in some form assisted a Kisii woman.
The comedian provided Kathambi with financial support not only by purchasing her land and building a house, but also by raising funds to aid her financially.
Kathambi was attacked on January 4, 2025, by a group of her neighbours who accused her of taking a bag of flour.
