- Hakim Ziyech has verbally agreed to join Qatari giants Al Duhail from Galatasaray before the transfer deadline ends.
- Ziyech brought an abrupt end to his Turkish adventure when he criticized head coach Okan Buruk, labeling him "low level".
- If the deal is finalized, the former Chelsea star will play alongside Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga.
Hakim Ziyech is set to start a new trajectory, in spite of his looming contentious departure from Galatasaray.
It is widely understood that Ziyech will leave the Turkish giants before the end of the transfer window after issuing a strongly worded statement concerning the club's head coach, Okan Buruk.
"I'm done with Galatasaray. I don't want to play here anymore. I'm leaving in January. I've never seen a coach as incompetent as this one. I'm not concerned... I just want to be left alone, no matter what happens. I regret ever joining this team," he said to Turkish journalist Haluk Yurekli.
The Moroccan is now seeking a new club, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano stating that he had agreed upon a move to Al Duhail.
Hakim Ziyech has come to a general agreement to join Al Duhail in Qatar, succeeding Galatasaray.
The player joined the responsibility cautioning young Chiefs team players that, "you may not perform better in every match, but it's the consistency of performance that matters."
Al Duhail is the home club of current Harambee Stars captain, Michael Olunga. Olunga joined in 2021 and has since become the club's all-time top scorer, achieving an average of one goal per 88 minutes.
The former captain of Gor Mahia is thriving in Qatar. He has netted eight goals this season, with his team, Al Duhail, currently holding the top position in the Qatari League.
Olunga has already shared the field with one of the game's respected playmakers in Phillipe Coutinho and welcomes the opportunity to play with Ziyech.
Hakim Ziyech's achievements
Ziyech might have fallen short of expectations in terms of individual performance, depending on one's perspective, given the significant talent he demonstrated as part of Erik ten Hag's star-studded Ajax team.
Despite this, his resume boasts an impressive array of accomplishments, including a Champions League trophy he won at Chelsea, along with the Super Cup and Club World Cup during Thomas Tuchel's tenure as head coach.
He also played a crucial part in Morocco's remarkable journey to the 2022 World Cup semifinals, a historic achievement for an African nation.
Ziyech to Al-Nasr?
Italian manager touted to make a free transfer to the Middle Eastern team Al-Nasr from the United Arab Emirates despite Romano's recent update.
KingFut reports that Al-Nasr head coach Alfred Schreuder played a key role in convincing Ziyech to sign the deal.
Liverpool Echo had earlier reported that Harambee Stars eligible midfielder Eliot Matazo had joined Hull City.
Matazo has departed French football giants Monaco and joined an English league team on a three-year-and-a-half contract.
The midfielder is a Belgian youth international, but he is also eligible to represent Harambee Stars due to his mother's nationality.
