She was raised in a small, tight-knit family by her grandmother and uncles, and has overcome obstacles to establish a successful online boutique while working as a domestic help.

She embarked on her entrepreneurial venture in March 2024 with an initial investment of approximately $55 that is equivalent to 600 Kenyan shillings.
Presently, her business focuses on men's wear, ladies' shoes, and children's clothing, with custom-made clothes for kids sourced from the Gikomba market.
"I still work as a cleaning help, but someone else handles the shop in town. On weekends, I take care of it myself. It's bringing in money, and even during school, I used to sell goods to students," she said.

The manager allowed her flexible working hours to study and sit for exams, making it possible for her to complete her education while working.
"I really like Kami a lot because she is so kind to me. I'm always adaptable whereas other housemaids," she said.
