3 min read

It is officially confirmed that the Mach-E looks very good as a low-slung two-door hatchback.

  • Ford transformed a Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle crossover into a NASCAR test vehicle.
  • This model has three electric motors, two doors, and abundant carbon fiber.

It's a real thrill to drive the Mach-E Sapphire close to the ANEV approved territory of 0 to 62 mph which occurs in mere 3 seconds, on the other hand the Mach-E GT has impressive acceleration at 3.7s, 0-62 mph.

It's a highly impressive vehicle, this one. Although specific details remain confidential, the manufacturer has revealed that the prototype is equipped with at least three electric motors, and it possesses ample power to perform impressive acceleration, as evident from the accompanying photos. Furthermore, it is known that a 78-kilowatt-hour battery pack is strategically placed as low as possible within the vehicle.

The vehicle's suspension, brakes, steering, and wheels are directly taken from Ford's current NASCAR Cup Series car. Additionally, there's a comprehensive carbon fiber chassis linking all components together.

There's no information on whether this sleek, tire-shredding electric crossover will ever compete in an official racing series. However, even if it's just for entertainment, Ford deserves credit for being bold enough to undertake such an unusual endeavor. Moreover, it's possible that some of the innovative technology developed for this prototype could be adapted for use in a vehicle with a more practical purpose. We shouldn't rule out the possibility that Ford will unveil another Mach-E-based demonstrator competing at Pikes Peak later this year.

The Ford teaser showcases a very broad, aggressively designed vehicle silhouette. A prominent rear wing is showcased, mirroring the Supertruck demonstrator from last year, which is a robust EV itself, generating over 2,722 kilograms of downforce at high speeds.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Pikes Peak Prototype Teaser

This year, Ford will challenge the Open Class category record with Romain Dumas at the driving position. It was he who drove the Supertruck in the previous edition, and in 2023, he was behind the wheel of the Ford Supervan 4.2. Currently, he also holds the record for the fastest time up Pikes Peak, a milestone achieved in 2018 with the Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak electric race car.
