US President Donald Trump announces a missile defense system inspired by Israel's “Iron Dome”.
This system, renowned for its notable rocket interception success rate, is to be adapted for the protection of the United States. Mr. Trump issued an executive order calling for the immediate initiation of the project, underscoring the imperative to safeguard the country against possible threats.
The US missile defense system being developed has some distinguishing features compared to Israel's "Iron Dome", which was primarily designed to intercept rockets and short-range missiles, in contrast, the American system is designed to intercept ballistic missiles of all three ranges.
The US President has given the US Department of Defense 60 days to submit a comprehensive implementation plan.
