UEFA Champions League draw: Manchester City land Real Madrid again

Manchester City will renew their rivalry with Real Madrid when they face off for the fourth consecutive season in the Champions League.

The new format saw many prominent teams struggle with producing consistent performances, which made their qualification for the playoffs uncertain.

Manchester City required a win against Club Brugge on the final day to enter the playoffs. The reigning 2023 champions have experienced an uncustomary poor preseason under Pep Guardiola, suffering a heavy loss to Sporting Lisbon, squandering a three-goal lead to Feyenoord, and ultimately allowing Paris Saint-Germain to complete the comeback last week.

Real Madrid's campaign has been uneven so far, but just enough to qualify for the next round after a slow start. They suffered setbacks against Lille, AC Milan and Liverpool, but bounced back after securing wins against Atalanta, Salzburg and Brest.
