Mumbai (Maharashtra), India, February 2 (ANI): Left-handed batsman Abhishek Sharma's explosive knock of 135 runs against England led the host team India to a huge total of 247 runs in 20 overs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
The England captain, Jos Buttler, chose to have the first innings.
England made a single change to their playing eleven for the final T20I, with Saqib Mahmood giving way to Mark Wood.
Indian seamer Arshdeep Singh has been replaced by Mohammed Shami, increasing Arshdeep's wait for taking 100 wickets in international cricket.
Batting first, openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma stepped up to the plate for the Indian cricket team. Samson clearly stated their intentions from the first over, hitting 16 runs against Jofra Archer.
One of the hosts suffered an early setback as Samson departed the field after scoring only 16 runs.
Following Samson's departure, left-hander Tilak Varma came to the crease to bat alongside Abhishek.
Both the players took charge from there on and helped India complete the 50-run milestone within the fourth over of the match.
After that, Abhishek Sharma achieved 50 runs in just 17 deliveries thanks to three fours and five sixes. This was the 5th fastest T20I century ever and the second-fastest scored by an Indian, following Yuvraj Singh's 2007 T20 World Cup exploit.
The Men in Blue reached the 100-run mark in the seventh over. In the ninth over, Brydon Carse sent Tilak Varma back to the pavilion for 24 runs, putting the team total at 136.
In the 11th over, Carse took the wicket of the team captain, Suryakumar Yadav. The right-handed batsman was dismissed after scoring only two runs.
In the 12th over, team India reached the milestone of 150 runs. In the 14th over, Brydon Carse dismissed Shivam Dube for a score of 30 runs.
India reached a total of 200 runs within the 16th over. However, in the 18th over, Adil Rashid successfully dismissed Abhishek Sharma for 135 runs when the Indian team's total score had reached 237. India was able to score a substantial 247 runs at a cost of nine wickets in 20 overs even though the team was facing frequent wicket losses.
For the England side, three wickets were taken by Brydon Carse, two wickets were taken by Mark Wood, and one wicket each by Jofra Archer, Jamie Overton, and Adil Rashid in their respective over spells.
