Skype, the online calling pioneer that made internet-based calls widely available in the early 2000s, will be discontinued this year, Microsoft announced on Friday, as the company prioritizes its development efforts on Teams.
"Starting in May 2025, Skype will no longer be supported," announced a post from Skype support on X, advising users to sign into Microsoft's Teams platform for continued access to its services.
