The party secured a decisive win in the highly anticipated Milkipur Assembly by-election, which was seen as a significant prestige battle, with its candidate Chandrabhanu Paswan succeeding in defeating Samajwadi Party's Ajit Prasad by a substantial margin of 61,710 votes.
The by-election in Mr. Milkipur was necessitated after local MLA Awadhesh Prasad vacated the seat following his win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Mr. Faizabad, which includes the Ayodhya assembly segment.

The Samajwadi Party fielded Prasad's son in the by-election, who received only 84,687 votes, more than 60,000 fewer than Paswan's 146,397.
The voting in Milkipur was postponed the previous year when elections for other seats were held in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Following the result, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath targeted Samajwadi Party and said that the result will "put a full stop to the politics of nepotism and false promises."
