Here's the latest developments regarding US President Donald Trump's re-election bid for the year 2025.

US President Donald Trump has told ABC News that he has instructed his staff to stop delivering the presidential daily briefing regarding intelligence to Vice President Joe Biden, a practice that has continued since 1946.

US president Donald Trump announced that he is revoking former president Joe Biden's security clearance and terminating his viewing of daily intelligence briefings.

There is no need for Joe Biden to have access to classified information anymore. We are immediately revoking Joe Biden's Security Clearances and blocking his daily Intelligence Briefings.

The former president indicated that Biden set a precedent in 2021 by ordering the Intelligence Community (IC) to prevent me (the former US president) from accessing details on national security, a privilege normally extended to previous presidents.

The new president, Biden, stopped Trump's access to secret intelligence briefings after Trump's participation in efforts to change the outcome of the 2021 presidential election and the storming of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

At the time, Biden stated that Trump should not be granted access to classified intelligence briefing due to his "erratic" behavior.

Donald Trump was charged in 2023 with mishandling classified documents during his first term as president, which spanned from 2017 to 2021.

The case was later dismissed by Judge Aileen Cannon, who determined that the appointment of Jack Smith, the special prosecutor who filed the charges, was unconstitutional. In defense, former Attorney General Merrick Garland has argued in favor of Smith's appointment.

US President Donald Trump has signed an order to halt aid to South Africa following the country's plans to pass a motion to amend its constitution to allow the expropriation of land without compensation. The decision was met with defiance from President Cyril Ramaphosa, who reiterated that the constitutional amendment would not affect property rights of foreign investors.

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order, formalising his earlier announcement this week that he will suspend aid to South Africa.

The White House says the order targets human rights issues in the African nation as it relates to legislation from the past that deals with the effects of South Africa's racist apartheid era. Back then, Black individuals had their property seized and were forced to reside in areas designated for non-white populations.

South Africa's government asserts that the Expropriation Act, which authorizes the state to acquire land in particular circumstances, was enacted into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa last month.

"As long as South Africa continues to support and enable harmful actors on the global stage, and allows violent attacks against innocent minority farmers, the United States will suspend financial aid and assistance to the country," the White House stated in a summary of the order.

The White House declared that Trump would also unveil a program for the resettlement of "Afrikaner refugees."

South African-born Elon Musk has mentioned recent social media posts regarding a law, portraying it as a threat to South Africa's white minority.

This resolution also refers to South Africa's involvement in accusations of genocide against Israel before the International Court of Justice.

The signing of the order occurs after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio refused to participate in a G20 meeting in Johannesburg, echoing previous statements made by Trump.

South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed Donald Trump's allegations about the expropriation law, stating that it is "not a confiscation instrument" but a "constitutionally mandated legal process that ensures public access to land in a fair and just manner as dictated by the constitution."

In a speech to parliament this week, Ramaphosa declared: "We will not be discouraged. We are a resilient people. We will not be intimidated."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is calling Donald Trump's comments about annexing Canada "a very real and deeply troubling thing."

have reported.

The comment was originally made in a private meeting, but it instead was accidentally picked up by a microphone.

Former US President Trump has repeatedly expressed his view that Canada should become the 51st US state, referring to the Canadian Prime Minister, Trudeau, as 'governor' rather than the correct title of 'prime minister'.

"They're very aware of our resources and capabilities, of what we possess, and they genuinely want to leverage those to their advantage," Trudeau said. However, Mr. Trump believes that an easy way to achieve this is through the annexation of our country, and he views this as a real possibility.

Canada is rich in oil, natural gas, diamonds and numerous other natural resources. It is also a significant producer of potash, which is utilised in the production of fertilizers for crop cultivation.

Mr. Trudeau discussed the trade relationship between Canada. Last week, President Trump threatened Canada with 25% tariffs on all Canadian imports and a lower 10% tariff on Canadian energy exports.

If such tariffs were to be implemented, they could potentially push Canada into a recession as a result of the country's highly integrated trade ties with the US. This measure would also increase the cost of gas, groceries, and other essentials for American consumers.

"The reflection we need now is how we can navigate, and prosper, and become even more resilient over the next four years and into a potentially tougher long-term political landscape with the United States," Trudeau said earlier in the meeting.

The president's trade and annexation threats may prompt Canada to seek more robust economic and political connections with other countries like China and the European Union.
