Mumbai (Maharashtra), India, February 17 (ANI): Vicky Kaushal's latest film, "Chhaava", has surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
The film, which received a positive reaction from the audience, has been experiencing a successful run at the box office since its release on February 14.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film earned over 121.43 crore rupees at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, exceeding all pre-release predictions.
Adarsh took to Instagram to confirm the news, writing, "'Chhaava' has a thunderous, fantastic weekend... #Chhaava sets the #Boxoffice on Sunday, registering a phenomenal opening weekend by crossing the Rs100 cr mark..."
The movie, a period drama, depicts the famous story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Vicky Kaushal impressing audiences with his portrayal of the Maratha leader.
In a recent interview with ANI, Vicky Kaushal revealed that playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was his "toughest role" to date.
The actor went through an enormous amount of physical and mental training to take on the historical figure, both in terms of his physical appearance and his grasp of the era's context.
Playing a historical figure demands a tremendous amount of discipline, and discipline can be extremely demanding. If you're not accustomed to discipline, as I was, it becomes very challenging because it's not a one-time commitment; it's a commitment that spans anywhere from 18 to 24 months.
"I'm thrilled to have taken on this challenging role, and I'm eager to keep learning and growing, not just as an actor, but as a person, with each new character I portray," Vicky said in a conversation with ANI.
The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, also stars Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna.
