The remarks pointed to a sequence of steps taken by the Trump administration aimed at removing individuals who entered the country unlawfully or those whose legal standing had expired.
"We aren't sure if her parents had proper documentation. Perhaps we should check it out," stated Waters, one of the initial members of the House Democrats calling for Trump's impeachment during his first term.
Melania, originally named Knauss, is a model from Slovenia who moved to the United States and obtained citizenship.
