Indonesia, which boasts the biggest economy in Southeast Asia, anticipates receiving around two million tourists from China in the current year. This represents a significant rise of roughly 70% over last year’s figures, largely due to the expansion in non-stop flight options connecting both nations.

Before the Covid pandemic, China was consistently one of Indonesia's top sources of foreign visitors. In 2024, the country received 1.19 million Chinese tourists.

Both Chinese and Indonesian authorities have been working closely together on various efforts such as exhibits, marketing drives, and other programs aimed at increasing tourism and fostering greater travel exchanges between their countries. A rise in non-stop flights from China to Bali is anticipated to boost development even more. China Daily cited by Paul Edmundus Talo, who serves as the chairperson of the Indonesia Inbound Tour Operators Association.

TransNusa, an Indonesian airline, plans to introduce new Bali–China routes beginning next month.

Thailand, which has the region's second-biggest economy, anticipates receiving nine million tourists from China this year.
