Arsenal's defender Myles Lewis-Skelly was given a red card for committing a foul against West Ham's player Mohammed Kudus in the second half.
The teenager lost possession of the ball to the Ghanaian player in the middle of the field. Initially, he received a yellow card after the referee, Craig Pawson, consulted with the VAR. However, following further review, Pawson upgraded the yellow card to a red card.
He was brought on in the 56th minute but played until the 73rd minute.
The Premier League Match Centre explained the reasons behind his red card.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed the referee's decision to give Lewis-Skelly a yellow card for a challenge on Kudus, deeming it a denial of a clear goal-scoring opportunity as the goalkeeper was positioned in a way that left no covering defender on the field. The referee then increased the yellow card to a red card.
