This appears to be the production version of the 2022 bZ SUV Concept, designed to position itself below the bZ4X in the lineup.
- Toyota is set to unveil a brand-new electric coupe crossover model developed in Europe.
- This is likely the production version of the bZ Compact SUV Concept unveiled at the 2022 LA auto show.
- Further information will be announced on March 11, when the model will be officially unveiled.
Toyota promises that the electric coupe crossover it plans to unveil on March 11 will be "exciting and surprising." However, a newly released teaser image, which obscures most of the car but gives us a good look at the roofline and some details, bears a strong resemblance to the 2022 bZ Compact SUV Concept.
In the promotional material accompanying the teaser image, Toyota describes this model as "all-new," which probably implies that it doesn't have a predecessor, rather than being a complete overhaul of an existing model.
.
It resembled a slightly larger and more refined version of the new-generation C-HR, featuring hidden rear door handles and a distinctive taillight setup with a full-width light bar. Up front, it sported the typical Toyota family face, but its styling was more akin to the sportier C-HR than the bZ4X.
Some of the concept's features that may make their way into the production model include 21-inch wheels, which are unusually large for a vehicle of this size, as well as dual charging ports (one on each side of the car) and a 14-inch infotainment screen with a curved lower section, similar to the screen found in a Mercedes equipped with the Hyperscreen.
.
We don't know where Toyota plans to market the new model, as it was created by its design center in France, so it might be a model exclusive to Europe and not available in the United States. The bZ Compact SUV concept was unveiled at the 2022 Los Angeles auto show, suggesting it could also be sold in the US.
