On Saturday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk strongly condemned Russia's new attacks on Ukraine on X. He discreetly hinted at the US's changed stance towards Vladimir Putin.
On Friday, Ukraine was struck by a massive assault involving a wide range of Russian drones and missiles. The city of Odessa's energy supply and civilian infrastructure were severely affected. The latest Russian attacks cannot be viewed independently of the US decision to halt its provision of intelligence and military support to Ukraine.

Among all NATO countries, including the US, Poland devotes the largest share of its gross domestic product to defence: in 2024, this share was 4.12% of Poland's GDP, compared to 3.38% in the US. Poland intends to continue investing in defence and is interested in gaining access to nuclear weapons. Poland is in negotiations with France regarding the deployment of French nuclear weapons to defend Europe.
