- On Saturday, February 8, Governor James Orengo applauded the High Court for declaring Azimio as the majority party.
- According to Orengo, the landmark court decision confirms that President William Ruto was defeated by Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election.
- The Siaya governor urged the Azimio la Umoja leadership to recapture the seats in the National Assembly as per the court's decision.
A recent ruling by the High Court which declared Azimio la Umoja as the majority coalition in the National Assembly has consistently drawn varied responses.

Is Azimio la Umoja the dominant party?
On Friday, February 7, Kenya's High Court issued a major political coup to President William Ruto after ruling that the Kenya Kwanza alliance is not the leading party in the National Assembly.
The court ruled that Speaker Moses Wetang'ula infringed upon the Constitution by siding with Kenya Kwanza in its ruling.
The decision issued by a three-judge panel, comprising Justices John Chigiti, Jairus Ngaah, and Lawrence Mugambi, confirmed that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party rightfully holds the majority in the National Assembly.
I completely disagree with the High Court's ruling on the primaries dispute. We have data showing that the senatorial candidate in Siaya County, Agnes Zani, actually topped the poll in her constituency during the gender nominations.
Siaya Governor James Orengo welcomed the decision, arguing that it confirms Azimio won the 2022 presidential election.
Kenyan Court Ruling Validates Claims IEBC Failed to Properly Tabulate Results.
"The swearing in is a confirmation that the announced election results were not accurate. Railway's (Raila's) party couldn't have secured the majority of seats, plus governors and senators, and still lost the presidential election," Orengo stated.
At the same time, Orengo cautioned former prime minister Raila Odinga against negotiating with Ruto over the majority party in Parliament.
The High Court made a key decision, stating that the Kenya Kwanza party is not the majority in Parliament, but Azimio holds that position. What will we do in response? Will we return to negotiations and negotiating with those in power? Don't let this opportunity slip away. The court is giving you what you rightfully deserve, instead of trying to work with those in authority, let's accept this court ruling.
